The estate · Lourinhã, since 1987
Planted against
the Atlantic wind.
We farm eleven hectares of old bush vines on limestone, eight kilometres from the sea. We don’t irrigate, we don’t add yeast, and we don’t hurry. Everything else is just weather.
Four decades on one hill
1987
The first rows
Avó Rosa plants Fernão Pires and Castelão on a slope nobody else wanted.
2004
No more chemicals
The estate goes fully organic. Cover crops return between every row.
2016
Back to clay
We bury our first eight amphorae beneath the old cellar floor.
2024
Thirty-nine harvests
Still picked by hand, by the same twelve families, every September.

The cellar
Cool stone,
long silences.
Our cellar was dug into the hillside in 1912. It holds 14°C all year without a single machine — so the wine decides when it’s ready, not us.
“Good wine is mostly not interfering. The hard part is having the patience to watch.”
